Fried Onion Rings 3 large Spanish onions 3 cups vegetable oil 1/2 cup milk 1 egg 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp chili powder 1/4 tsp cayanne pepper Peel onions under running cold water. Cut into 1/4 inch slices and separate into rings. Heat oil (1 inch) in 3-quart saucepan to 375 F. Beat remaining ingredients with hand beater until smooth. Dip each ring into batter, letting excess drip into bowl.
